Our Shows |
We hold two public Shows each year, usually on the last Saturday in February as an early and colourful foretaste of Spring, and on the last Saturday in September to help sustain us through the coming Winter. Our Shows are the Society's shop window to the outside world, so are very important to our reputation. We therefore take great care with their quality and have been very pleased with the positive feedback both from the public and from members of the wider orchid community. "One of the best Orchid Society Shows in the country", we've been told; we'll keep striving for perfection! |
At every Show we aim to titillate the senses of Members and the public in a variety of ways . . . |
The Show Bench of Members' plants in various competitive classes, together with various non-competitive displays by both the Society and visiting exhibitors, all combine in a blaze of colour to create interest and give pleasure. |
Potting demonstrations and a Plant Clinic running throughout the Show, together with the Society's Information Desk, provide a forum in which to share our knowledge and experience of orchid growing. |
Displays and sales by visiting Trade exhibitors give Members and the public the rare opportunity to purchase a considerable variety of orchids, orchid books and orchid sundries (specialised composts, feeds, pots, etc.). |
And, for those who like to indulge in an occasional "flutter", we offer a Tombola and a Raffle which help to defray the considerable expense of staging the Show. |
If you haven't been to any of our Shows before, please do come along to our next one. |
